Dear MB Residents,
I have a lot of questions.
Why would we implement Equity, Diversity, Social Justice, and Inclusion (EDSJI) when there is zero transparency as to the cost of implementing and sustaining?
I fail to see the value of EDSJI in furthering the primary goal of school which is academic excellence. After studying the three-year Action Plan on the MBUSD website, it appears to be an expansive and permanent ideological agenda that is meant to weave critical race theory ideology throughout the curriculum and to teach staff, administrators, the board, and the students.
Even if I were in favor of it, how would I be able to assess the cost of our already overextended school funds?
We have already spent a lot of money on this agenda with a huge committee and 40+ people dedicating hours and hours to put this in play.
Is this why there is a mad rush to put a $1,095 additional tax burden on all the residents of Manhattan beach? This is just the first year amount per parcel as it adjusts upward with already out-of-control inflation.
ARE WE REALLY BEING TAXED TO TEACH OUR KIDS THAT THEY ARE OPPRESSORS AND OPPRESSED AND SHOULD HATE AMERICA FOR OUR PAST!?!?
I see absolutely NO positive message in the EDSJI agenda. It is a negative narrative that serves to further divide by race, sexual orientation, mental wellness, political standing, and religion.
The city of MB voted down a similar committee (DEIC) at City Hall, as the residents did not want it. Somehow this ended up in our school system and I certainly don’t want it.
I also don’t want every homeowner in Manhattan Beach forced to pay an exorbitant tax to fund it (since we are already paying one parcel tax and it will overlap by 18 months, meaning we are being double taxed).
We seem to forget there are still many humble folks that live in Manhattan Beach and would be put under a hefty financial burden just to pay for this divisive EDSJI agenda.
