Messages about children and sex seen on MBUSD social media account raises questions.
Jason Boxer's posts reveal a problem with our School Board, placing the responsibility on the voters to decide what they want from an MBUSD education. As we see it, there are 2 voting options.
The 7 messages in blue, from @queersextherapy in this article are from School Board Member, Jason Boxer’s MBUSD Instagram account.
Recent messages about children, created by an account called @queersextherapy and posted by Board Member Jason Boxer on his MBUSD social media account generated a slew of community responses by residents raising a variety of concerns.
Mr. Boxer’s public messages about sex and pleasure aimed at children were viewed by many as inappropriate coming from a School Board member. His public messages include “Normalizing and destigmatizing the pursuit of pleasure, sexual or otherwise, can send a strong message to children,” and “Ask children to describe sensory experiences (e.g.taking a warm bath), and to explore where they feel emotions in their bodies.” More messages can be read in the blue posts in this article.
At best, his messages demonstrate poor judgment as an elected official tasked with the responsibility to make sound policymaking decisions for our School District. Some residents thought it reasonable and warranted to ask for Mr. Boxer’s resignation, but the Board did not take this action at the 9/14/22 Board meeting.
They began by apologizing to Mr. Boxer for having the conversation and spoke for 20 min. about how awkward of a position it was to have to deal with the public letters of objections. The very heart of the issue is the content of his messages from @queersextherapy about children, yet this was never raised.
President Sally Peel stated to Mr. Boxer, “I can’t make you, but I would appreciate it if you would take the MBUSD off of your handle.” He agreed. They moved on to the next agenda item.
The Board’s reaction is disappointing but not surprising. His public expressions from @queersextherapy echo a culture in our schools instituted by the current Board. Sexually graphic books about queer sex, lessons on political activism, and invasive questionnaires that pry into a student’s personal life called Social and Emotional Learning tools are just some examples of recent planned and approved practices in our School District.
The Board has been successful in stonewalling parents who object to conditioning their child with partisan political and social beliefs, so parents sought to sound the alarm to the taxpayers who fund our schools, seeking more common sense voices to speak up. They distributed flyers to every home and sent emails to hundreds of residents.
The Board’s reaction was to discredit these parents by accusing them of spreading fear and divisiveness in the community. Objections are labeled divisive fear-mongering and those who object are labeled dissenters by this Board, particularly by Board Member Jennifer Fenton who is seeking re-election.
When 3 residents were quoted last fall in the online publication, Red State News, the Board, which includes Jason Boxer and then President, Jennifer Fenton, issued a cease and desist letter to the 3 residents, hoping to silence the vocal critics. The letters were issued by the District’s law firm and paid for by the taxpayer. (1) See the Red State article [HERE].
In a complete lack of self-awareness that her elected position is at the will of the voters, Ms. Fenton berated residents she labeled “dissenters” for 7 minutes during the 10/23/21 Board meeting and now asks for your vote to put her back on the Board.
Boxer crosses boundaries and undermines parental authority.
People who want to influence others use social media as a useful tool to spread their message. Instagram is particularly useful in reaching young people and Mr. Boxer has a following of students.
Crossing boundaries is how Mr. Boxer brings change to many of the causes he champions as a Political Activist. No one can doubt the fervor displayed on his social media accounts for wanting to change socioeconomic norms, particularly when it comes to gender, sexual expression, and race. This is his passion and he has every right to pursue it.
But he crosses boundaries with parents when he uses his Board position to challenge and influence change in a student’s belief and value system established by their parents. He is undermining the authority of parents.
Mr. Boxer interjected his personal beliefs with posts from a site whose views are clear from its name, @queersextherapy. He did the same by posting messages to his youth following from the Democrat Socialist of America website. (2) View the DSA website [HERE]. DSA is the largest Socialist political group in the US.
The DSA group takes advantage of the susceptible minds of young adults and youth by fanning the flames of disdain for the political corruption in America and offering up Socialism as a better alternative to Capitalism. This group follows the pattern of Socialists throughout history where their ground leaders target youth and activate them to take part in dismantling the socioeconomic system in place, which ultimately ends with a Socialist leader or party takeover. Their movement is rapidly growing.
Although Mr. Boxer closed his mbusd_jason Instagram account that included several political posts and the 7 posts in this article, other posts can be viewed on his personal Instagram account to get a better idea of his views. The influence of an elected Board Member is very powerful. Using his MBUSD position on social media to foster relationships with students crosses boundaries as an MBUSD Board Member.
Board Members also have policy-setting power and Mr. Boxer made it clear he is focused on revamping the sex education policy, as he stated in the 9/14/22 School Board meeting (5). After reading the following message on his Social Media account, “pleasure-centered education teaches children how to acknowledge and understand the pleasures they feel in their bodies and emotionally,” many are left wondering where exactly he is going with his ideas on a new sex ed policy.
The Board’s Action Plan formalizes one opinion on race, sex, gender…
Mr. Boxer’s views about sex and children are not unique in the District, in fact, they point to a greater problem.
The Board adopted an “Action Plan” last spring which formalizes the District’s position on defining only one perspective to students on MANY topics, including gender, race, politics, religion, family, emotions, and pleasure, all defined from a Far Left perspective (6). Far Left should not be confused with Liberal or Moderate Democrat.
The Action Plan conditions students to accept the District’s singular opinion as the only acceptable opinion, which is described as the “common understanding.” The Plan calls for regular testing to ensure the student’s full acceptance of the common understanding of various topics by the time the student graduates.
Opinions on these topics are typically based on one’s personal beliefs, principles, and value systems. They have traditionally been reserved and respected as the domain of the parents, not the school. When the School District would periodically encroach on family territory, they were rightly met with a wall of protective pushback and they heeded the warnings of the parents.
However, this 5 member Board is comprised of ideologues and backed by many vocal defenders. From the Board’s perspective, their plan to weave into the K-12 education only one acceptable opinion will eventually end the controversy and divisiveness caused by dissenting parents. Over time, the school will have greater influence over the child on these issues than the parents.
Their Plan completely undermines a parent’s value system and personal beliefs they have instilled in their teenagers and currently instilling in their younger children. It ends the freedom to think independently, at least on subjects the District wants to control.
For example, a parent may teach his child that there are two genders, male and female, but this contradicts the common understanding according to the District that there are several genders. Students have already been given lessons and quizzes to test the acceptance of the “common understanding” that there are more than 2 genders. A teacher assigned students to memorize and use a list of 100+ pronouns when addressing each other in class.
Another example is the introduction of the book Gender Queer, which includes descriptions and illustrations of queer sex among young teens, presented in a childlike comic book format. The Principal made the District’s stance known to the parents who objected to pornography in the classroom by stating, “pornography is subjective,” as she turned faced down a copy of one of the most sexually graphic pages from the book.
One may not be able to find the words to describe pornography, but common sense tells us we know it when we see it. Gender Queer is queer porn, targeted at young teens.
Now apply to a child’s education the District’s common understanding of white privilege, policing, BLM, and choosing a gender (or transgender), which delves into sexual expression.
A student spending 6+ hours a day on campus for most, if not all of his years at MBUSD can’t escape the District’s conditioning of their common understanding. It’s not a specific class a student enrolls in, it’s a belief system from a Far Left perspective, infused into every class and every grade.
This has been in the plans for quite some time. The District appointed a task force over 2 years ago to work with UCLA Center X, a group specializing in changing cultural norms through the educational system, targeting K-12 students. Our School District is one of many in CA that have gone in this direction, and many public schools across the U.S. have followed suit, including private schools. Hence the heated School Board meetings throughout the country these last couple of years.
MB schools are experiencing the consequences of our elections.
It is said, “elections have consequences,” and MB is certainly experiencing that with this School Board. But to be fair, did residents really know Jennifer Fenton’s ideology when they voted for her in 2018, or know Jason Boxer’s Political Activism when they voted for him in 2020? Most likely not. But no longer can MB voters cast uninformed votes because serious consequences will follow.
It’s not surprising this Board embraced the Action Plan without question.
And it is also not surprising they did not view Jason Boxer’s posts as grounds to ask for his resignation.
Some parents had enough and moved their children out of our MB School District. Over 1000 MB children have left. The District did not perform exit polls asking why they left, but common sense tells us at least a fair number of those students were pulled by parents who were fed up.
The tide is turning but not without resistance.
Parents and residents across the country are reclaiming their schools, thanks to those individuals who sacrifice their reputations and comfortable lives to go against the powers in charge.

MB parents took a stand for their child’s education when they formed the local group We The Parents MB last fall. They distributed fliers and signs against Measure A and were unmercifully attacked by some proponents of the Measure, including Michael Sinclair and Wysh Weinstein from the Measure A committee.
During the Measure A Forum at the Shade Hotel, Mr. Sinclair falsely accused and smeared the parents of being a dark, big-money group as an attempt to discredit their message. And Mr. Sinclair tried to intimidate them into silence when he filed a claim with a government agency (fppc) about their “No for now on Measure A” signs.
Sinclair turning a government agency on his neighbors is as deplorable as Ms. Fenton, Mr. Boxer, and the other School Board members turning the District’s law firm on these parents.
The group disbanded but not before exposing the actions of the School Board and the Measure A committee.
Our group has also been repeatedly attacked by a handful of residents who want to silence us with threats of doxing the names of our writers, false allegations that we are spreading lies, and smear campaigns in group texts, emails, and on social media. But we stayed the course and our efforts have been immensely successful with the residents as evident in our readership growth from 100 to over thousands in less than two years.
And 3 residents have disrupted their work and family lives to run for a seat on the School Board in an effort to right this ship.
MB Residents are faced with a decision this election that will determine what kind of education MB will provide.
There are 6 candidates running for 3 open seats.
The first group of 3 candidates are unabashedly Far Left and will stay the course that the District is on. The second group of 3 candidates, called the Trifecta, got into the race to make Academics the priority again and rid the classrooms of partisan politics.
The 2 voting options as we see them:
To continue on this current path: Jennifer Fenton and her 2 running mates, Wysh Weinstein and Tina Shivpuri will continue interjecting partisan education in our schools. All are in ideological agreement with the Board’s direction. We are basing our assessment on their past decisions and current comments.
Jennifer Fenton is part of the current Board and she voted to adopt the Action Plan. She has shown no remorse or has not provided an apology for her decision to issue cease and desist letters and publically berate parents who disagree with partisan academics, so we have no reason to believe she would not continue to demonize and exclude parents in the educational decisions of their children and continue with the Action Plan. She did not take prudent action with Jason Boxer. She supported Measure A.
Wysh Weinstein was one of the founders of the committee to push Measure A. It is our opinion that if she would not consider opposing input before deciding to push forward to nearly quadruple the tax to the MB property owners, we have no reason to believe she would consider opposing opinions when facing decisions as a Board member.
Tina Shivpuri is overly obsessed with growing the EDSJI committee. She wants to add 10 new positions to an already over-inflated committee. We do not hear from Tina an argument to get our District back on an academic focus nor does she appear to empathize with parents who have been excluded by this Board in their child’s education.
To Change direction: The 3 New Voices who came forward to serve our community for the explicit purpose to change the direction this Board has taken our schools are Johnny U, Christy Barnes, and Mike Welsh. They call themselves, the Trifecta. All are parents with children currently attending or previously attended MBUSD and all have a unique set of experiences to bring our District back to the standing it once was. Collectively their goal for the next 4 years includes, but is not limited to:
Return to non-partisan Academics.
Stop the flight of parents pulling their kids out of MBUSD and find a way to bring them back.
Spend wisely and bring back financial transparency, which Measure A did not provide.
End the intimidation and give all parents and all teachers a voice again at MBUSD. Watch Mike Welsh’s 2 1/2 min closing remarks at the Rotary Club Forum [HERE] about parents and residents feeling intimidated to speak up (9).
Note: Electing a different combination of the 6 candidates will only result in giving the majority of Board seats to the Far Left, so if you are voting to restore non-partisan academics in our MB education, you must vote for all three candidates in the Trifecta.

Final thoughts:
There is a Far Left movement taking root in MB. People who have served on Council and School Board before as moderate Democrats or as conservative Republicans have, in recent years, embraced the Far Left idea of following state and LA county to set policy for our Schools and City. Their ideas contradict what MB has always been, an independent city with its own small town beach culture, governed by residents, for residents.
The Far Left believe their ideology is inclusive and kind and their ideas will better serve the residents of MB. They do not see that in practice, their ideology destroys freedom. A clear example of this is the School Board’s Action Plan which trains young minds on what to think, not how to think.

Ballots will arrive in Mid-October, but hold off on voting until early November because a lot can happen over the next few weeks in the highly contested School Board and City Council elections.
