In this issue, we have published an opinion article written by a new voice about the current state of affairs in MB politics. The opinion expresses that of the author and may not reflect the opinion of all of those at MBStrong.

1) The Democrat Party is killing our country and CA is ground zero.
Opinion article by a Native Southern Californian.
Obama called it, “fundamentally transforming America,” which is political correctness for “killing America and replacing it with a centralized government, controlled by the Far Left in the Democrat Party.”
Here in California, the Democrat Party is completely controlled by the authoritarian Far Left and they overwhelmingly dominate our state and county governments. They are mastering the model of Centralized Government out of Sacramento, and their cohorts in our major counties and cities have used their unbridled power to create soul-crushing changes to our culture, businesses, and families.
Before Gavin Newsom and other Far Left Democrat Leaders, we had:
No “protestors” rioting, blocking traffic and destroying property in our cities (remember BLM destruction in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, and boarding up downtown Manhattan Beach?)
No defunding and disempowering our police
No ignoring laws that lock up criminals
No Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committees resurrecting failed Affirmative Action practices
No County governments taking control of local Fire and Police departments
No open border to Mexico and declaring CA a “sanctuary state” for illegals which includes criminals and the Cartel
No killing of our youth with fentanyl
No giving drivers licenses to illegals and registering them as voters for The Dem Party
No declaring CA a “sanctuary state” for the homeless across the country
No massive homeless tent and camper zones in every major city
No mandating CA cities to provide housing for “low-income” groups including illegals, the homeless, and the druggies on perpetual welfare.
No lies about a “housing shortage” and needing to pack more people in densely populated cities when there is plenty of open land 90 minutes east of LA.
No ads calling for women across the country to come to CA for an abortion
No gas prices of $5.20/gallon and rising
No punishing regulations and taxes on businesses
No extreme inflation on groceries, utilities, and home prices.
No mandating masks and a COVID vaccine for students and Gov. workers
No firing you or publically dragging your reputation through the mud just because they can
No danger of speaking your mind using your name
No kneeling in school sports
No conditioning our children to believe that there are more than two genders
No experimenting on our children with puberty blockers and mutilating surgeries
No men competing in women’s sports
No male students sharing the girl’s locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms
No targeting people of faith by the Government
No teaching hatred of America
No bullying citizens to apologize for actions made by others decades ago
No restating CA history to suit The Dem Party agenda of Reparations
These authoritarians relish in their power, delight in their bullying, and are amused by our submission.
Comedian, Roseanne Barr who was just one of many people “canceled” by these blowhard bastards, has exactly the right attitude: “My pronouns are…Kiss My Ass!”
So what about the woefully outnumbered CA Republican politicians?
Well, they typically fall into one of two categories: 1) some truly try to restore American values and principles in their district or city, 2) others are complete sellouts and secretly go along with the majority party agenda in exchange for money, power, fame or some other self-serving interest.
These turncoat Republicans talk like Conservatives in public, but behind closed doors, they make backroom deals to tow the Democrat Party line. They quietly sell out their constituents and their cities to the Dems, get something in return, and hope no voter will be the wiser.
Constituents have to apply pressure to get these Republicans to vote in the best interest of their cities, but even then, they often end up still serving their own interests.
Some spineless Republicans simply take a defeatist attitude in our Democrat dominant state. Like Bruce Jenner, who after living with the Kardashian women for years and clearly outnumbered, decided “if you can’t beat ‘em, might as well join ‘em.”
Whatever their excuse, these RINOs as they are called because they are Republican In Name Only, are a disgrace. Think Mitt Romney.
The city of Manhattan Beach has its fair share of RINOs.
Steve Napolitano (R), Richard Montgomery (R), Joe Franklin (R), and Suzanne Hadley (R) (who lost her recent bid for re-election in a landslide) have left the city worse off than when they took office. It looks like a city run by Democrats.
Crime went from the usual petty shoplifting by local teenagers, to armed robbery by groups of outside thugs. No local would dare walk on the Strand after dark anymore. And beautiful Bruce’s Beach Park is now riddled with graffiti.
The once wonderful MB schools have been taken over by the Woke Marxists. Not one Republican council member put forth a motion to ban CRT and pornography books used by teachers in the classrooms. Other Mayors had done it in other CA cities, but in MB, the Democrat “Pro Porn” Party continues to prevail at the schools. Are the children in MB also not residents that City Council Members swore to protect upon taking the oath of office?
The Highrose building project marked the beginning of Sacramento’s Central Control over local zoning. Local government workers and city contractors were mandated by City Council to get vaccinated. And residents witnessed the systematic, slow dismantling of the local Fire Department. All this under a Republican (RINO) dominated Council.
The same City Council also filled the open Police Chief position last year with someone outside of the MB Police Department, checking all of the Democrat Party’s Diversity and Equity Affirmative Action boxes: minority, female, and Lesbian. I come from the past era of Affirmative Action policies. It was wrong then and it is wrong now. I could care less about a prospective employee’s race, gender, or sexual orientation. The new Police Chief may be very qualified, but so are the many MB Officers within the Department who were passed over. Ditto for the MB Fire Department.
The RINO dominated City Council padded the Bruce’s Beach Task Force with Far Left residents and allowed the Far Lefties to do what they always do, scream racism. They falsely accused the predominately white city of Manhattan Beach as systemically racist. Council posted the false accusation on the city website, which was written in the Report of Bruce’s Beach. Acting like a dog whistle, the post attracted packs of Far Left journalists and sent them into a feeding frenzy of reporting dishonest and malicious stories of racism in Manhattan Beach. Council allowed this to go on for months. It was all a rouse to keep racism on life support for Newsom’s Reparations scam.
Council also provided an open mic on the City website to one of the accusers on the Task Force to push the story of racial victimization and systemic racism in MB and America, further supporting Newsom.
It’s no secret the Democrat Party is grooming Newsom for a Presidential run. They are creating publicity and contriving issues for him to run on in a future campaign, Reparations being one of them. The CA Democrats targeted the City of Manhattan Beach, violated it, then tossed it aside like trash. And the 4 RINOs on City Council were complicit. Manhattan Beach has never been the same since.
Who knows what these RINOs were promised for treating their city like this, but one thing is for certain, their constituents can never trust them again.
In a speech by Governor Newsom at Bruce’s Beach Park, he browbeat MB residents for not issuing a formal apology for decisions made by a City Council 100 years ago. But he would have done a lot worse had the residents not pressured their Council to not take responsibility for something the current residents didn’t do. Council was teed-up to issue an apology and they had written a few versions to choose from, but hundreds of residents stood their ground. Good for MB residents! There are leaders among you!
The next elections are in 2024 and three City Council seats will be open. Conservative residents should target and win all 3 seats with 3 NEW leaders.
So what about the local Lincoln Club, the club supposedly for local Republicans?
To begin with, attending their monthly meeting at a local Restaurant is by invitation only. Have you been invited? And where have the Lincoln Club leaders been for the last 4 years? They don’t attend School Board or City Council meetings. They don’t organize Townhall meetings with the residents. In fact, with the exception of a few of their letters published by the local newspaper, they interact with residents as little as possible.
And let’s be honest, if the good old Republican boys were doing their job as watchmen on the wall, Manhattan Beach would have never elected School Board Member Jason Boxer, who has no business being anywhere near a school. Jason has recently resigned, which is good for the Manhattan Beach students, but he was there for 2 years. (See report on Boxer HERE.)
The Lincoln Club leaders also keep picking RINO candidates to run for public office. Birds of a feather?
And lastly, whoever told the Lincoln Club leaders that they choose who runs for Council or the School Board like they are some Star Chamber elite group making that decision for the masses? They never even talked to the other conservative candidates in the last election who threw their hats in the ring for City Council. Their lack of coordination and cooperation split the votes for two seats among 4 candidates running as conservatives. Dumb move. They all lost to 2 Far Left repeats, Amy Howorth and David Lesser.
The city is in need of an active group for ALL Republican voters, so the Lincoln Club leaders should either step up or step aside.
The Napolitano factor.
Despite the drama and some campaign missteps in the last election, Councilmember Steve Napolitano’s full-page, color ad in the local papers, supporting all 5 of the Far Left candidates running for office, sealed the win for the Democrats in MB in Nov. 2022. And he’ll say he’s not working for the CA Democrat Party. No one believes that, Steve.
RINOs not only betray their constituents, they also betray each other. Suzanne made the mistake of trusting that Steve would support her bid for re-election in exchange for her loyalty to him on Democrat issues. He betrayed her the week before election day with his ad, telling voters that the Far Left candidates were MODERATES! HA! It was a bald-faced lie but it swung the undecided and uninformed voters.
According to Steve’s ad, he has a special bond with the previous Far Left Councilmembers re-running for office, Amy Howorth and David Lesser, and he desired to work with them again. Apparently, that love did not extend to Suzanne Hadley. She’s now off City Council as a result. That should be a red flag to Steve’s sidekick, Richard Montgomery, and to Joe “Vax Mandate” Franklin about any favor they think they may have garnered with Steve.
Steve has a reputation for “running” City Hall, meaning he throws his weight around and is controlling. He’s masterfully deceptive and manipulative with the other Councilmembers, staff, and the public during meetings, and no one stands up to him. Behind his folksy demeanor, he’s a bully and it’s sickening to watch Councilmembers sucking up to him, hoping to get in his good graces.
Can one man have that much influence on voters? Yes, if you’re Steve Napolitano.
Steve has served in MB City Council for nearly 16 years and in the Democrat controlled LA County Supervisors office for 11. He’s a career politician and a CA parole attorney (website), a deadly combination when used against the people.
He’s a local from Manhattan Beach and he has milked that fact for votes for all it’s worth. He’s not committed to an ideology, principle, or political party but rather he is an opportunist who is all things to all people depending on which voter group or special interest group he’s speaking to at the time.
Although some voters have caught onto Steve over the last couple of years, most voters don’t have the time to pay that close attention. Voters want to believe we are being told the truth by our local politicians because, after all, they are our neighbors and friends. We raise our kids with them in team sports, see each other at church, play volleyball with them at the beach, and run into each other at local restaurants. Steve has bamboozled a lot of voters over the years (myself included) and consequently he received the most votes of any Councilmember, ever, when he was re-elected in 2020. So, yes, he was able to pull off his lying ad and mislead the voters with ease.
I voted for Steve in past elections, expecting him to use his skills and experience to fight against the CA Democrat Party agenda, not sell out MB.
Both Steve Napolitano and Richard Montgomery will have completed their term on Council in 2024, and their seats will be open. Joe Franklin’s seat will be open too. That’s good for Manhattan Beach.
No more RINOs
Enough with the RINOs and the opportunists. Not one should ever, ever be re-elected.
Manhattan Beach and all other CALIFORNIA cities need TRUE conservative leadership. NEW FACES and HONEST people who are capable of leading residents to take back their cities. The Democrat Party is killing our country, the RINOs are enabling them, and California will be the first state to fall if we do not fight to restore the principles and values that make us a free and great nation.
We need fearless Republicans like Jim Jordan (OH), Lauren Boebert (CO), Ron DeSantis (Fl), Sarah Huckabee (AR), Elise Stefanik (NY), and Kari Lake, Republican candidate for Governor of Arizona, to name a few. If these states can produce such leaders, certainly California, the most populated state in the union, can produce the same and in more abundance.

California produced Ronald Reagan, one of the most successful Conservative Governors and Presidents since Abraham Lincoln. Within his two terms in the White House, he pulled the country out of the demoralizing socialist and weak economic policies of Jimmy Carter. Trump did the same after Obama but he did it in one term.
